Information for the week of January 5-9

Language Arts: We will finish our Judy Blume author study this week. Prior to the break, we had 3 separate groups reading Otherwise Known as Sheila the Great, Fudge-A-Mania, and Double Fudge. To find out Judy Blume's inspiration for her Fudge series, you can visit her website: http://judyblume.com/books/fudge.php
We will not have a spelling or grammar test this week.

Math: This Thursday will be our Math Unit 4 test on Decimals. We are reviewing Monday-Wednesday in class. If you would like additional Decimal practice, you can visit this excellent website and click on the links for Unit 4 Decimals. http://www1.center.k12.mo.us/EDTECH/edm/4.htm

Science: We will start growing our sweet potato plants and dissect a flower to look at its parts. Do you want to be a Junior Plant Detective? Detective Le Plant has discovered that one plant can produce many other plants. He needs you to help him find out how this happens. If you solve this case, you're well on your way to becoming an official Junior Plant Detective! Click here to get started: http://www.urbanext.uiuc.edu/gpe/case4/index.html

Social Studies: Our unit on the Lenape Indians has taught our students much about what life was like in New Jersey before the explorers arrived. Each student will draw their own replica village this week using the information they learned from this unit. Pictures will be posted next week of some of their drawings.

I think this is a GREAT idea! Everytime I ask "what did you do in school?", I can get a real answer, instead of the same old..."nothing". :)
